General Information
During the year 2000 D J Clark built a visual record of the Lancaster &
Morecambe district using photographs and information submitted by those that
feature in the pictures. The project was conducted in association with Lancaster
Museum and has been archived for future generations to look back at the district
at the turn of the new Millennium. For more information on the project visit
the information page. If you find a caption is
wrong or there is a fault with the page please e-mail D

Photographer's Comments
Various Times
Frontierland, Morecambe's fairground site, was a strange cowboy-style remodelling of an earlier fairground. The original site was opened in 1909. The 'new' big dipper, installed in the late 1930s was known originally as The Cyclone. In Frontierland it became the Texas Tornado ! The site has now been cleared for redevelopment.
These pictures were taken throughout the year. It was never actually fully
open during the year but as you can see by the end of the year it had been demolished.
As yet the site has still not been redeveloped and the polo tower still stands.
The pictures were taken on different visits to Morecambe during the year with
the final images taken on the 2nd of December when I sneaked through a hole
in the gate to get access to the site.
