General Information
During the year 2000 D J Clark built a visual record of the Lancaster &

feature in the pictures. The project was conducted in association with Lancaster
Museum and has been archived for future generations to look back at the district
at the turn of the new Millennium. For more information on the project visit

Photographer's Diary
1st December Royal Grammar School
This was to form the second part of the grammar piece. I had envisaged five
pictures from each to make the web site, but the girls shoot had gone so well,
I was dredding having to edit down to five pictures.
I met a Mr Wood at 8.30 AM. A notice was placed in the headmaster's window,
reserving a car parking spot for me. Mr Wood turned out to be Andy, the son
of my neighbours, an old boy taking a year out from University. He insisted
on chaperoning me round the school, as we once again made our way from classroom
to classroom.
We continued to tour the building, and I found many teachers unhappy with my
presence. The boys were more rebellious than I expected. As we walked, Andy
continually bombarded me with facts and figures, the school was obviously successful,
if success is measured by Oxbridge entrants, and national rugby players. Later
that day I returned to the school to photograph games, and some Rugby matches.
The sun had finally broken through the wet day and I was able to get some pictures
outdoors.
On the Rugby field a young boy was sent to Andy for attention. His nose was
gushing blood, but the poor young lad was not in the least worried, in fact
he was more concerned about the pictures I grabbed. I left Andy to clean the
mess up and I watched from the sidelines.
