Photographer's Diary
11th June Lancaster Carnival
Most people in Lancaster remember the days of the carnival taking to the streets and parading on floats around the one way system. I remember Dressing up and throwing sweets to the hoarding crowds. Things have changed now as it is reduced to a stationary event staged at Williamson park. I wandered for about half an hour and met one of the local newspaper photographers. "There isn't much here is there" he told me. That maybe was not true as there were a fair few events going on, it was just not that exciting. We both shot children playing in an army jeep and on the assault course, the local radio station at work and a dog show. I wandered the Folly for some aerial pictures but there was not much more to it. Running to get to a christening I had been nominated photographer and musician for, I worried about missing the procession. Having seen the paper today it looks as if I made the right choice.
