General Information
During the year 2000 D J Clark built a visual record of the Lancaster &
Morecambe district using photographs and information submitted by those that
feature in the pictures. The project was conducted in association with Lancaster
Museum and has been archived for future generations to look back at the district
at the turn of the new Millennium. For more information on the project visit

Photographer's Diary
10th June - Dolphinholme Field Day
I was there more from guilt than anything else. At the Abbeystead show a large contingent from Dolphinholme appeared in the evening in support of their neighbouring village. I was told they would do likewise the following week, and I was also urged to attend. It was an open field again, but this time with one corner being used for the event, and the rest being left to the sheep and other livestock. The master of ceremonies Alan (forgot his other name) gracefully organised the participants and directed the show. His west country accent seemed a little misplaced but the shorts and hat did it for me.
A march round the corner of the field, led by a local band and then a fancy dress competition was the top and bottom of the start. Then the crowning of the new princess or carnival queen led to some interesting pictures. The event felt small but comfortable with everyone that needed to be there being there. Unfortunately I could not stay and instead headed off for Morecambe to another show.
