Morecambe/Heysham Carnival - Sunday 20th August
This was by chance. I had suggested Maggie and I take a walk along the prom
on Sunday morning. The weather was fine and I was still looking for beach pictures
so I grabbed my camera and we set off. On the way I saw a banner for the carnival
and prayed we might meet it on our walk. Maggie was getting a little sick of
the project as it was eating up every spare minute we should be spending together.
We arrived 15 minutes early but Maggie was patient and I got my pictures. It
was a smallish affair but it commanded a good turnout. We walked through to
Heysham where another field event was in full swing. I was starving so we both
enjoyed a bacon and egg bun. Squeezing the bun egg yoke spilt down my shorts
and I was embarrassed to walk the length of the prom on our return trip with
egg all down my shorts.
The night was clear and I decided to return in the evening to get some evening
pictures of the north prom. It could not have been better, and I shot roll after
roll of film of the architecture that faces the setting sun.
