Photographer's Diary
7th June - Lancaster Court
My scouring of the local papers has started to reap results as I found events I would have never have known about. I had thought I would very much like to photograph the crown court but realised the only opportunity for this would be an empty room. Here a Heysham amateur operatic society had persuaded the court to lend them the room to perform a one off Gilbert and Sullivan musical. I gained permission to photograph the dress rehearsal as I knew I would be too restricted in the actual performance.
Once in I was accepted by the performers who took my cause to heart. It was strange to wander this amazing room packed with history and shoot what appeared as a life like situation ( that was until the bride arrived that was). The performance was strong, in fact I was very impressed and vowed to return to a future performance. As I left I saw three women heading for the door. As I expected they needed a quick fag before the real performance. I got the picture.
